Big Serving for Big Eaters - Dining at SUMO SAM

It's been a while since I was last been here.  After two days of hibernating at home during the Holy Week I decided to go to SM Lanang Premier late in the afternoon to escape the scorching heat of summer.  With me was my mom, two nieces, their yaya and Dave. When we entered the mall, the cool breeze of air-conditioning was a soothing welcome.  We roamed around for a while, with no intentions of buying anything, until we feel a pain in our stomach.  It's time to look for a place to have dinner.

Sumo Sam Davao

Most of the Filipino restaurants were full that time with still many waiting to be seated.  We went to the opposite side of the mall to see if there other restaurants with vacant tables.  When we passed by Sumo Sam a group of diners just left.  I asked the waitress if we can be seated from a recently vacant table and she said yes and asked us to wait awhile, while they are cleaning and preparing the table for us.  Not very long after we were seated.

We dined at Sumo Sam several times already and we kind of knew already what to order.  There were six of us that night so I ordered the following Japanese dishes.

Sumo Sam Davao
Happy Birthday Noodles P278

Sumo Sam Davao
Chicken Teriyaki P268

Sumo Sam Davao
Sliced Beef Misono P228

Sumo Sam Davao
Beef and Chicken Kamameshi P328
It took quite some time before our orders were delivered to our table.  Maybe because there were many diners that night.  Nevertheless, the waiter keeps coming back to our table to inform us and offered to serve our drinks first and the soup while we waited.  Because of that gestures I can easily let go of the short delay.

As usual, there's nothing that I do not liked about Sumo Sam's Japanese dishes. The Chicken Teriyaki was tender and the sauce was just perfectly right for the chicken. The Happy Birthday Noodles was flavorful with meat chunks and egg. The Sliced Beef Misono was a bit salty but the stir fried vegetables with it has somehow neutralized the saltiness and tasted good. Beef and Chicken Kamameshi was perfect, this rice dish has become our favorite at Sumo Sam.

Sumo Sam has always been known for their dishes with generous serving. And with a very attentive waiters and good tasting food, I may say that our dining experience at this Japanese Restaurant was decently pleasant.
